Sometimes we all need a little Tough Love !

I had a conversation at the weekend with someone I know quite well through our large group sessions - like a lot of us motivation to stay active or even to stay upbeat through the last year has been like a rollercoaster, we can all empathise with this I bet!

Activity levels have dropped, from exercising 3-4 times per week to maybe 3-4 times per month, even if that - one common thread kept popping up in the conversation, they are waiting for everything to get back to normal before they start training again !

Possibly a few words of encouragement / motivation could have helped - BUT I have to be honest, I was so annoyed by this and snapped back they were talking an absolute load of (enter four letter words)! I knew by the moments silence they weren’t expecting that - but I let it sink in, at times we need to hear the cold hard truth.

WAITING !!!! Waiting - we’re always waiting, the right time, setting, place, etc etc - that’s the exact problem, we are waiting for it to be “right” it’s actually WRONG !

By waiting for it to be right you’re missing out on so much, by waiting you’re fooling yourself you can’t have it right now - you’re simply stalling on “hope” that is drowning your soul !

Stop pinning your hopes and thinking about “the day I finally made it” - any day can be that day, it doesn’t need to be “the right time” - if you’re waiting for the stars to align - get over yourself, they may never align - YOU make them align!

The truth about it is - we’ve already got everything we need to make it happen - the only thing missing is a little discipline, not motivation, not “the right time” - it’s simply discipline !

So happy to see them complete the sessions yesterday and today as I know getting the structure back will MASSIVELY help as it’s helped so many on the team. I spoke with them about posting this as I know others are feeling the same - maybe you just need to read it and get a little “tough love”.

Thank you for allowing me to post it, and thank you for being true to your word and showing up, and thank you even more for smiling and laughing during the sessions.
