I’m a firm believer in not chasing the weight too much - ROM (range of movement) , tempo and technique should be of paramount importance and at the forefront of your mind.
Some get into the trap of thinking they need to add the weight to every single exercise on a regular basis - if this were to happen on certain movements the biomechanics breakdown because they can’t support the heavier loads (without compromising on form, technique and muscle tension.
But by not increasing weight each time do you think you can’t create progressive overload with certain exercises?
There are many ways (I will go into in greater detail in another blog) we can create progressive overload without “adding weight” - slower tempo, reduced rests between sets, rest/pause sets are all forms of progressive overload we can apply “without” increasing the weight.
Something to think about!
